The short version
We do not run advertising. We do not use analytics or tracking cookies. Comments are closed, so there are no comment forms, and we do not run a newsletter. The only information we receive is what any web server records, and what you choose to send us by email.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our web server keeps standard access logs. These record your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you request and the time of each request. We use these logs only for security and troubleshooting, for example to spot abuse or fix errors. We do not use them to build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell or share them for marketing.
Cookies
We do not set cookies for visitors. WordPress, the software that runs this site, may set a cookie for logged-in administrators so they can manage the site. If you are simply reading the site, no such cookie is set for you.
If you email us at our contact address, we use your message and email address only to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Links to other websites
Our articles link to other websites, such as government agencies, universities and reference works, and contributed articles may link to the contributors’ own sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Your questions and requests
If you have a question about your data, or would like us to delete an email you sent us, please write to the address on our Contact page and we will help.
